The Spring 2024 Undergraduate Research Symposium is now open for applications! The event will be on Friday, May 10 from 5-7:30 PM. This is your chance to showcase your research achievements to all community members. All DURF projects, capstone projects, research projects from courses, Dean’s Service Scholars (DSS), Study Away programs, and other research done under faculty guidance at NYU Shanghai are welcome! Participate in the event, interact with the faculty judges in your discipline, and explore your research interests and learning motivation! Join us on a journey through LLMscape, a multimodal exploration that harnesses Large Language Models (LLMs) alongside physical interactions to render abstract climate narratives tangible to the public. Within this experience, participants can explore sand table terrains and witness the islands' vibrancy through a dynamic projected panorama. This installation addresses the disconnect between human perception and climate realities, creating access to distant and muted habitats. By combining LLMs with physical embodiment, LLMscape invites contemplation on the synergies between technological agency and the palpable realities of our evolving habitat.

As part of the exhibition École du soir, Christian Nyampeta co-convenes a “ scriptorium” working group to collectively translate a text on “thinking Africa” into Chinese. Open sessions invite the public to experiment with other methods of translation through movement, performance, storytelling, and other creative expressions. Registration is required.
